GOD IS IMMUTABLE

 For I am the Lord , I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob..." Malachi 3:6 NKJV.

      The dictionary defines immutable as 'not subject or susceptible to change, unchanging through time; unalterable; ageless.' The immutability of God is His constancy in character, purpose and utterances. He does not waver nor veer in His ways.
      I remember one incidence in my student days in the UK. It was late Saturday night and we were returning from an all-night party when suddenly a police siren started blarring behind our car driven by one of us, the owner. One of the two policeman politely asked our driver to follow their car to the police station. He brought us before the desk officer and reported that he found our car "veering dangerously on a major road". To check that we were not riff-raffs, they asked to see our ID cards, then tested us for alcohol. Even though only two of the five of us failed the breatherlizer test, we were all kept in the waiting room till morning, then they released us. They reckoned that our offence was student rascality. That was how I learned the word 'to veer'. It means 'to turn aside from a course or established direction; to swerve; to deviate from a purpose, behavior, or laid down pattern.'
      God never changes and nothing ever misses His attention or escapes His control. What He purposes to do He will do no matter how much the circumstances waver or change. His word is yea and amen, and His purposes are sacrosanct. He never misses on a plan. God said to Jacob from the top of the ladder in his dream, “...Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.” (Gen. 28:13,15).
      After centuries of exile and innumerable persecutions in different lands, the children of Jacob, now the nation of Israel, are settled where God promised Jacob thousands of years back. Talk about God's constancy of plan and purpose. That is God's immutableness!  Some describe God as The Unchanging Changer, a statement of God's ability to effect change in His creation without He Himself changing, like a catalyst in a chemical reaction! He is powerful enough to alter the situations of our lives and still remain unchanged.
      The bible says Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever (Heb.13:8). These words testify to His second coming. He has promised us, "I go to prepare a place for you...I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:3). What He has said, He has said; and you'd better believe and prepare for it!

Chorus.
Ancient of days, as old as You are
As old as You are, You will never change;
Ancient of days, as old as You are
As old as You are, You will never change!
